A few days ago, I stumbled upon the Mesta Mangosteen. It was an exciting experience because I had never come across these oblong shaped fruits!
Supposedly, this variety has:
- Much smaller and less seeds (3 developed ones at most), and
- A more "sweet, crisp and tangy" flesh.
(Reference from SoCal2warm, Tropical Fruit Forum)
Don't find there to be any radical difference although it does taste slightly sweeter and crispier.
Has anybody else tried Mesta as well? Mangosteen season is sadly ending soon, so try them if you can!
They're available at Teng Tiong Hua Trading Enterprise (301 Serangoon Avenue 2, 01-334, Singapore 550301). (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
